This one has the illusion of pieces of sheet metal on top of perforated steel. It was tricky to get them to look overlapped since they are obviously carved from the same piece of wood and needed to end up at the same level, yet look like they're on top of each other.

I would level one critique that I also brought up concerning a different body you displayed (that one concerned string ferrules on a string-through-body arrangement).

I think the modifications you are making to these bodies will lead to cleaner builds if you take into account the hardware that will eventually be installed.  ON this body, it looks like there will be a gap between the bottom of the control plate and where the screw goes into the wood - some of the threads will be exposed to the open air under the plate.  I might have left a little larger margin for the control plate if it were me.

Picking nits, I know, but it's the little things that often make the difference between a really good build and an awesome build.

I made a really good investment from Stew Mac--a giant box of screws. I include extended pickguard screws when I send these out if needed. I'm very careful about making sure the hardware will install on these. On this particular body, the hole where the control plate is slightly less deep. A standard screw will be plenty long, but if not, a slightly longer screw will do the trick. If I left more wood, the illusion would be ruined.

Good point.

I suppose another approach might be to rout a recess for the control plate to sit in - flush with the body top.  But this is your art, not mine.  I'm just spitballin', and mean no disrespect to your very solid craftsmanship.

Yeah, I think recessing it would lose the illusion of it being perforated sheet metal...
