Ha ha "Cannabis Rex"

"Like: Roar, dudes...and pass me the chocolate"  :laughing7:

WOW.

They need to get off the crack and the Humbolt Homegrown and just start making some good old point-to-point amps again.

Leave the hemp cones to Tone Tubby; speaking of which, there must be something in the Hemp. I have been testing some different Tone Tubby Speakers and this is the latest cabinet that was dropped off for me to test. It has a 12' Ceramic in this fine cabinetry.  :laughing7:.
When I questioned the cabinete I was told it’s final destination was a music store in Haight-Ashbury,  :toothy12:

I swear I'm not making it up.

PS I did not like the Tone Tubby ceramic 12 but I did like the Alnico 12 which was in a much more traditional looking black open back cabinet and sounded way better.

That is one wild-assed cabinet covering. Before you mentioned Haight-Ashbury, I was gonna say it's not crack they're on, it's LSD or Mescaline or Peyote. Now I know for sure <grin>

The reviews of tone tubbies that I have read have tended to emphasize that the hemp cone units take a pretty long break-in period before they really open up.  If you were to break it in for 20 hours or so you might have a different opinion - or maybe not...

Exactly. Same price as Blues Jr!
If I was in the USA I wouldn't touch a Fender after 1980 with so many amps in the used market.

Ted Weber has offered a hemp cone speaker for about a year now.

They say (on the ceramic 10") "Bold, big bottom, later/smooth breakup, smooth treble.
Because of the Hemp Cone, this speaker is darker and warmer than the standard 10F150. Softer attack, to tame amps with an aggressive treble."

A pal of mine did this when he upgraded the speakers in a used Marshall cab that he bought, and he told me that this helped out tremendously:

Even with hemp being stiffer, a low-volt AC load should will allow it to buzz at a constant frequency, which will loosen things up, but not shake the speaker to bits.

Personally, if you are going to make a speaker called the "Cannabis Rex,"  you really should design a more unique label to affix to the back of it, in maybe more of a ganja motif rather than stars and stripes.

Tone Tubby does offer to break speakers in and the one in this cabinet went through their break in process.

The thing in noticed about all the Tone Tubby’s that I have tried so far are they rally like high volume. They really start to shine when the amp is cranked and that may be indicative of the fact that they are not truly broke in. Like I said I really like the Alnico 12, I thought it killed the Weber California that is in my Deluxe Reverb.

So it's a Blues Jr. with the t00bs swapped for Groove Tubes, different speaker
and green tolex...

What's all the excitement about?  :icon_scratch:
