Whaaat? another SG I like??? b b b but I hate SGs!!!  :icon_scratch: :tard:

You're just going to have to come out Marko and admit that you are....an SG lover!

Brief update. After doing some sanding back and refilling, I've got the first coat of Tru-Oil back on now and I like it. Just a nice hint of grain, but nice and smooth and shiny overall. I took pictures in the lovely Australian evening last night, and I'll post them over the weekend. Funnily enough, I had almost the same experience as Troubled Treble and his Strat, with having to fill more grain and then recoat.

You'll post them NOW or you gonna receive a illegal tackle from God-above-us :evil4:

I'll skip round the tackle like Arsenal did to Barcelona yesterday. I only took the pics for you in the first place!

Heh, I hoped to save everyone from that experience.  :laughing7: It's not to difficult to gain back the lost ground though. Now, with each coat it should become really really smooth and it should not be necessary to do any sanding. Is it working out that way? Have you got the motion down? I really enjoyed doing the finish that way and may have a project coming up which I may do this again.

Look forward to seeing those pics!

I think I was impatient in the first instance, hence the overly grainy look. Now I've filled it more, ad spending more time rubbing the tru-oil in. I'm happy the far Ken, thanks for all your advice  :) pics will be up today

on the Koa veneer on my new neck I was planning doing 4-5 coats of pore-filling... I did something like 12 and if wanted something perfect flat I'd need to do something like 30, I believe...

I actually like both the look of wood (nyuck nuck, keep it clean boys) and the texture- or at least that impression of texture.

As promised, here are the pics for you guys. This is after 1 coat of tru-oil.
