Just arrived...
My "signature guitar" project.

Velocity with tele bridge and strat neck pickup.
Its a unique choice flamed maple top on a chambered swamp ash body.
The neck -- which should arrive today -- is a tele made of roasted quartersawn maple with abalone dot markers. Modern construction.
I'll add pics of the neck when it arrives.
I am contemplating recording some of the building process for YouTube.

I will be posting construction pics in the Work In Progress category, under the name TeleOcity    :rock-on:

Neck arrived. I like the black-yellow burst contrast. Its got flash and a classic look. Yes, the hardware will be gold  :o

Wow, roasted quartersawn? Is that a custom neck?

Yes it is custom, made to my specs.
I can't tell if there is finish on the stainless steel frets though. Is that a thing with Warmoth necks?

I've seen the clear coat on the frets when there is a clear coat on the fretboard, but assuming not on yours, being roasted maple.

I asked for satin finish on mine. it feels kinda like satin finish, and that's what was on the work order. Still, it feels so much like natural wood.
Just wondering if I should lightly sand the frets to get any finish off. so hard to tell if its on the fret.

If it has a finish then there will be finish on the frets. A lot of people prefer to just scrape the frets rather than sand but I'm no expert.

Thanks Fat Pete. I will do some mild scraping or very mild sanding and see what happens. Its stainless steel, anyway, so i am not afraid of wearing them too much.

Scraping is much more effective. Sanding will just be a lotta work that'll make more work.

Get a fresh razor or 3, and just pull it along the fret from one end to the other slowly, at about a 45 degree angle. The finish should come off in strips. Each fret will usually take three passes - one off the top and one for each side. You might consider taping the neck off to protect the fretboard: razors can slip.

Past that, you can probably just play the rest off. Or, if you taped the 'board, you can take some polishing papers to the frets to remove any bits and pieces that are still there.

This! Exactly what I did. Take it slow and be patient.

Will do! Thanks for the advice, you guys. I am going to get some build time this weekend. Will take pics as I go.

From now on I will be posting in the Work In Progress category, here: http://unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=26623.0
