Telecaster American Special fret size

I am at the point of ordering a 7/8 Warhead neck for the 7/8 Tele body I have. I really like the jumbo frets on the Amercian Special Tele. Does anyone here have an American Special and able to tell me the equivalent frets from Warmoth? I know Warmoth jumbo size is obvious but different manufacturers have different specs for the same thing.....

Thanks anyone :glasses10:

I'd go with SS6150 or SS6105 (I have both, I can't really discern a difference between them)

You want stainless steel frets, if it's absolutely necessary the gold frets would work, in a pinch, I guess.

I have found that the SS6105's look a lot smaller than they really are.  If you want to go for a vintage vibe with a larger fret, they work out quite nicely.  I am torn between the SS6100 and SS6150's for most everything else.

I ordered SS6105's on my Tele neck that just shipped (whoo hoo!), I'll post my impressions and a pic or two when it shows up later this week. I wanted something just slightly thinner and a bit taller than standard Fender frets and the 6105's seem to fill that niche perfectly.

Yeah, those will work well. Fat frets were more for allowing longer play between leveling and recrowning than anything else, and stainless parts don't really wear much at all so that's not an issue. Tall is about control, which is always a Good Thing, but tall and thin nickel/silver frets wore too fast. Again, not an issue with stainless. Frosting on the cake is the smoothness of the stainless - it's like playing on greased glass. You're gonna love those things.

I don't know how SS compares with gold (I got the gold to match the wood grain a little better) but I do have GD6100's on mine. If SS is like playing on greased glass, then 6100 size (with full scallop!) is like playing on a fluffy pillow.  :icon_thumright:

And 'cause everybody was so like "6100's with teh full scallop? omg!" I daresay that I could try even bigger frets, and deeper scallop, and fatter neck, 'cept for the extra weight and neck dive.

To me, there's no difference in feel between the stainless and the gold. They're both wonderful. Choice for me is based on the rest of the hardware. Stainless goes with black and chrome, and gold goes with gold.

The American Standard and American Deluxe have 6150s (or the equivalent).
I assume the American "Special" would be the same.

I had 6105s installed on one of my Ibanez guitars many years ago, and found them to be too narrow for my tastes. I replaced them with 6150s like those on my Fender Strat, and it was like coming home.
