Is there a special way to install a Telecaster bridge pickup with a tremolo instead of an ashtray bridge? Mainly worried about shielding.

You could use a standand strat trem an a Glendale plate to hold the pickup.

You can also mount the pickup directly to the body, or get a Super Vee "Maverick" tremolo https://www.super-vee.com/products/tremolo-systems/maverick

In other words, you've got quite a few options!

Wudtone makes a Telecaster vibrato that combines the bridge plate and trem. But not guarantee it would work with an existing Warmoth trem rout.

Several companies sell "tone rings", cutdown bridge plates for just the PU, like the Glendale mentioned above.

But the easiest may be to just do the GE Smith/lap steel thing and wood mount.

The trick is that the Telecaster bridge route comes back pretty far and you have to make sure you can fit the trem screws in.
