Lovely.  :icon_thumright:
Makes me think of Trevor Rabin and Danny Elfman. Guitarists that make good, cool music that's more than guitar music. No movie producers knocking on your door yet?

Haha thanks man.

I'm still perfecting my craft I think. Learning to write, produce, mix, and master is not easy. Wish I had the means to just send my tracks off to have that done, but I'm so picky.

I literally just imagined how the rest of that song will play out. Finally lol!

One thing I tried a long time ago, back inte vcr days, was to record some music onto a movie. I specifically choose parts of the movie that didn't have music in the first place. I thought it would be a cool lesson in case somebody gave me an opportunity to do some music on a film and hand me something that's either completely silent or only has dialogue and effects.
All of a sudden you start to realize and appreciate the craft of John Williams, Alan Silvestri, James Horner and the like.

That is way cool. I've never though of that. I really respect the people that can create stuff on the fly like that. Inspiring!

You should try it. It's fun. But hard.
To chose some music you've already created/composed/recorded and try to fit it to a scene could be pretty easy, but looking at a scene and try to imagine what kind of music that needs to be composed and would go well with that is a completely different thing.
Just by choosing a particular mood of music could change the whole scene. A woman walking through the woods with some light, happy music makes the scene light and positive, but change the music to something darker and you might get an thriller/suspense type of scene. And not a killer in sight! Just different notes/instrumentation.

And speaking of Danny Elfman. Check out his Dead Presidents and fast forward to 2:22 and all of a sudden some wild guitar playing pops up for a few seconds.

I totally get it - and I'm so limited in my musical vocabulary that I have to be inspired by something.  I might give your exercise a whirl. I need some better string/orchestral synths!

I recently reconnected with the guy who got me into music (as a kid).  He was in jazz band - can do everything well. He has been creating soundtracks for video games.  His work reminds me of Elfman's in some ways.  Very atmospheric and loosely constructed.  I can't tell you if he ever repeats a phrase.  His music is so different and out there.  Very cool to leave on while you go about your business or drive around.  Check em out:

A lot of his ambient stuff is really nice. Reminds me more of Tangerine Dream though.  :icon_thumright:

Thank u:)

I've decided to split this in two and create a longer, guitorchistrated theme between.

Love this one, Frank!  Did you post it once before?  It sounds familiar.  But, it is so unique that it seems that it would be impossible to sound like something else.

I hear a definite Satriani vibe in there.  Especially in the melodies and the legato lead guitar.

Nicely done!  :icon_thumright:

Thanks!

Yes I posted it a while back when I first recorded it.  Made some changes and improved my mixing and mastering, so I reposted :).

I hear the Satch, too. I feel like it's coming from the lead tone lol. Back when I wrote it, that tone was the only one I could craft that would cut through without being thin. I just left it haha.
