I got a little bored over the past few days so I tried out my Reaper skills and used a couple of free VST's to Orchestrate a Symphonic Power Metal song.

My guitar playing in this is a little sloppy, mainly the lead stuff, so try not to focus too much on that  :laughing7:

I have both the main song: https://soundcloud.com/axkoa/symphonic-power-metal

As well as just the orchestrations: https://soundcloud.com/axkoa/symphonic-power-metal-orchestra

I'm really happy how the orchestration turned out for mainly the chorus part, it sounds very professional to me. :laughing8:

Enjoy, and if you have any feedback/criticism I don't mind!

Edit: I just realised at the end of the main version the guitar chugging gets out of time...I literally have no idea how this happened oops...

Nice melodies!!! Repeated maybe a few times more than necessary, but I like the melody a lot. Dreamy sound!

Yeah it does repeat a lot, the problem I have is that I find it hard to write metal music. That doesn't sound repetitive because usually you would have vocals in it as well, and I haven't got a microphone more can I sing.  :toothy10:

You rannnnnggggg?  This is up my alley and I dig!

Some of my bridges are completely out of left field, but a great way to break away from the main melody in a coherent way is to loop a section of your song and just jam over it.  You will not only create heaps of layers that way, but you will find that breakaway chord or note that inspires the bridge section.

I think you are off to a good start here and only you can decide when the song is done.

I could hear a female vocalist on the top of this track. I don't think the repetition is a problem in this genre - I've found that little variations in lead lines (be it note changes, added harmonics, octave changes, etc...)can help to lessen the obviousness of the repeat. I also think it's something the Emppu does well in his playing.

I'll try out those little changes in the lead line. I also might try making a little verse section as well, just something relatively thin sounding that would go with vocals. For female vocals was one of the influences, I guess you could call it.
