I bought two mini toggles to use for coil tapping last week. They came yesterday and they aren't tall enough for me to put them into the guitar (non-Warmoth guitar). What should I do? Are there mini toggles out there with extra long shafts? Should I sand down the inside of the control cavity?

I had a similar problem (I was putting an LP switch into a rear-routed tone control), and, I know I'm going to catch flak for this...but I used a hand drill and a set of files. Now the inside of my control cavity is ugly as hell, but it worked.  :dontknow:

I used a cordless drill and a Forstner bit.  Go very slow, you don't want to come out through the top!

If you have a drill press w/a depth gauge the forstner bit should work great.  Set the depth gauge properly & you won't risk drilling through the guitar.  If you don't have a press you should be able to rent one locally (bench top press) or buy a low quality unit for under $100.  The renal approach is the most cost effective.

Good Luck.

Thanks everybody, I'll post pictures when I can get around to it. Don't wait up for me though!  :icon_biggrin:
