In this era of guitar centre and musician's friend going broke (after screwing the industry mind you), it's nice to see the good guys doing well.

I went to gearfest and the new store is really nice.  The shipping warehouse is amazing.

While they have nice catalogs, they still refuse to ship to Alaska, so I can't say much nice about them.

That's weird, they ship to Canada no problem.  Maybe have them send it to Whitehorse or Dawson then pick it up?

I really like Sweetwater, and have had excellent customer service from them every single time.

They were especially helpful in counselling me as I prepared to make the jump from PC to MAC, helped me find the right spec'd iMAC at Macofalltrades.com to ensure that it would be compatible with Pro Tools 12, they talked me through the install, made sure that my communication with AVID was satisfactory, and have continued to be helpful as I consulted with Auralex on my Room Analysis, even though I'm not going to end up using Auralex's brand, but another, sourced at far less the cost.

Top notch folks, they are.

SW should be called GC though. Their non guitar inventory kinda sucks. Otherwise, the customer service and business aspects rock.

Actually, their synth & software is quite extensive, far more than I've found with any other large chain vendor.

+1 on Sweetwater's customer service. They stand behind their sales and are always ready to help.

I've heard comments about Musician's Friend before, but what did they do to deserve them? They were able to get me a Black G&G DeLuxe Strat case, with orange poodle plush interior, for $125. That's at least $25 less than most places sale price.

Fair enough - that's not an area I peruse  - but their percussion section is *extremely* weak compared to others. Not a single bass drum > 22", head selection sucks, not a wide selection of cymbals, etc...

I lived in Ft. Wayne for 5 years and never went to their showroom.  I'm still not sure why.

Well you gotta figure someone has to pick up the slack with GC/MF circling the drain.
do they still send actual candy with your order?

Hmm, I've been getting candy with my stuff lately. They might have had a rare moment of human error.

Or maybe it's a controlled substance that can't cross borders.  I wrote that as a joke, but now re-reading it it might be true!

Could be some hidden FDA thing when it comes to a business shipping food.
Who knows?  I didn't get any when I got Pro Tools, but then again, it's kind of hard to download candy.

Whatever you do don't ship doggie treats - at least the same type used to train the drug and bomb sniffing dogs.
