This is a long term keeper!

Yahooooo! :hello2:

Thanks!

This is my first Warmoth project. The quality looks great. I've been assembling & repairing guitars off & on for 30+ years.
Before that I only knew how to take them apart !
I have played several Warmoth necks over the years & they've all been good quality.

I just thinned the Tung Oils by 50% & I thought I had some new brushes in the house but I don't so I'll start finishing tomorrow.
I used the Real Milk citrus thinner. These oils are actually food grade so they can be used on butcher blocks.
It'll take me a few weeks to apply all the coats & I'm still waiting on the Trem Block.
I should have it up & running next month as long as everything goes smoothly.

I'll deffinately take a few photo's this weekend.

From your specs, the Tele should sound, play and look great.  Keep us posted on your progress plus pics.

Perfectly Q-Sawn!

Very nice book match on the body seam... & this photo also shows how nice the flame figuring on the neck is.
It's very consistent & uniform from end to end. I was just looking for quarter sawn but this neck is beautiful.
I had a couple of Robin guitars with incredible flamed necks in the past. This one will be amazing when I'm finished.

Nice Top. I'm using a dark Tung oil to bring out the grain patterns but no grain fillers.
I don't mind some texture to the finish. I'll be using 6 or 7 coats of oil with about 48 hrs dry time between coats ...
Then I'll let the whole thing dry for 2 weeks & apply a a satin nitro finish. It'll be very organic.
It's an American Standard Trem routing. Still waiting for the MannMadeTremolo unit in the mail.

The back is beautiful. Very nice ...

These pickups are one of the reasons for this build. I've had several Gretsch 6120's but they're not really comphy for me.
LOVE the tone of a good Filtertron & the Barden is an amazing Neck pick-up.
I prefer the sound of this over a Strat neck pickup unless I'm looking for that "Strat" sound.
This guitar is Tele all the way.

The Results!

My lousy camera keeps washing out the figuring on the neck. I wanted quarter sawn for it's strength & & snap but man oh man the flame is absolutely perfect!
This really is a dream guitar for me.

John Mann seems to be a total flake. I ordered a Fender American Standard bridge right from Warmoth & had Paypal give me a refund on the MannMade.
I wish him well but he came up with some funky stories as to where my bridge was or when to expect it ... how about never?
:icon_scratch:
I would have enjoyed that bridge but a Fender with the Sperzel's & the LSR will be dandy.

Oh... I did use a Walnut Grain filler on the body after all ... next I have to let the son of a gun sit for 2-4 weeks (we'll see how it looks) & then a couple coats of shellac... & then a couple coats of nitro.

Holy moses... I'm really digging this!

Tony Chachere's; the label does say "Great On Everything."

Ya got a great build going on there.  And that flamie neck is sweeeet  :headbang1:

It's probably not your camera. We have some fine cameras here, and have the same problem. Figured woods almost never look right in pictures. I suspect it has something to do with their three-dimensional reflective qualities that simply doesn't translate well to two dimensional representations. I've seen woods that were absolutely magical in real life that were just plain old unimpressive in pictures. You get the gist of it, but just barely, and only if you're lucky.

Still, it's easy to see you've got a fine piece there. Whoever does the wood shopping at Warmoth knows their subject.

Beautiful tele BTW.... :icon_thumright:

Two weeks of lovingly rubbing every day & I think it's absorbed all the oil it can. The neck only took a couple light coats but the body took in over 10oz. of  oil. The thing was a complete sponge. I used a walnut grain filler & some Minwax natural stain along with the dark & natural tung oil on the body. It's really amazing in person. The Ash has incredible depth. It looks almost like a nice piece of Black Korina without any of the green ...

I'm jazzed.

You know a Melencon Cajun Gent would cost me nearly $ 3 grand & not be any cooler than this when it's done?
Matter of fact the Barden will make this guitar! Thank you so much Warmoth!

It's about time to put this whole thing on the assembly topic.

Welcome to the best kept secret on the internet!

Now you know why I like to wave my middle finger at Fender, the Fender Custom Shop, the insane
prices they charge, and what those mark-ups are supposed to get you for Fender "quality".  :evil4:
