So this is an idea I've had for a while. I used to play steel string acoustic a lot but I had to stop because of shoulder problems. I just can't play with my picking arm up at an angle over a body 3-5 inches thick anymore. I've gotten used to electrics which are under 2 inches thick they don't stress my shoulder nearly as much. But I do miss heavy gauge strings coupled with wide spacing at both the nut and bridge for alternate and lower tunings and fingerstyle. I've tried the modern hybrids like Godin Multiacs and Taylor T5 but they have narrower string spacings so they play like electrics. A SuperWide 1-7/8" nut width neck plus a vintage 2-3/16" hardtail bridge is very close to my old acoustic's taper.

A while ago I had met someone who did a custom order for a Quilt Maple top rear rout dual humbucker Thinline Tele which I ended up making a wiring harness for. But looking now Maple isn't in the builder for Thinline Teles - regular Thinline not the 72 wide range style. The same thing with SuperWide necks. I'm sure I saw a post about a Tele SuperWide neck but its not an option now.

Anyone have any experience with either of these recently?

I don't see any reason why superwide tele necks shouldn't be available; probably just a website issue

I believe on thinlines they still use 1/4" tops; not the veneer tops that they use on most things so it might be an issue of availability

Anyways, give 'em a call!
