Awesome! Love your giveaways. Eventually - statistically - I should win too, shouldn't I? :occasion14:

Spoken like a true gambler. Unfortunately, your odds never change. If they were 1 in 2,000 the first time, they're gonna be 1 in 2,000 every time (assuming 2,000 entries). You could enter 2,696,320 times and on the 2,696,321st time, your odds would still be 1 in 2,000. So, if I were you, I wouldn't enter. In fact, nobody should enter. I need better odds  :icon_biggrin:

STOP MAKING SENSE!!! :sad1:  :tard:

Can't quite figure out what the shaft wood is.  My guess is padouk?  It looks too smooth (untextured) to be that though.  Bloodwood? Something new?  Whatever it is...

Could it be that chechen(?) they've been talking about that's supposed to appear as a special limited run?

That, my friends, is fresh-cut Padouk. The smoothness you are seeing is just crappy phone pic artifacts. The fretboard on the Strat neck is Wenge, if that tells you anything.

We are thinking of calling this the "Put Up Your Douks Giveaway".

Nope. Chechen is much more brown and variegated.  That looks like bloodwood, or maybe they got a stack of redheart.  Or a straight-grained padouk or bubinga.  Hard to tell under fluorescent light with what I'll bet is a camera phone.

Damn, AA.  That's nice looking stuff.  I can't recall seeing a padouk neck in the showcase before, although it is listed as an available custom material.  Let me ask you this: to go along with the give-away, will there be some available in the showcase for purchase?

Yes....a LOT. This giveaway is part of a push to focus attention on Padouk, because there will soon be a crap-ton of Padouk necks in the showcase. And....a huge percentage of them will be rare Quartersawn, or even-more-rare one-piece guitar necks.

I gotta think a Wenge fretboard would get disgustingly nasty pretty fast. It's a really wide open grain so it's going to collect finger sludge faster than fingernails do and there'd be no good way to clean it. Thing would be classified as a biohazard in about a week.

I dunno, I've had good luck with Quty Pie, but then, I don't sweat that much, and I also don't hardly touch the fretboard - I have a light touch and let the stainless frets do their job.  For a grimier player, yeah, I could see the 'board getting a little gunky before long.

I'm sure the player has a lot to do with it. Some come through here looking like (or are) new, while others look like they were recovered from the La Brea Tar Pits.
