Standard thin contour?

Greetings,

I have a '59 roundback profile on my tele, which I love but find that if anything, it is maybe just a tiny bit thick in the middle. I have a 2008 American Standard strat that I also love but find the neck just a tad too thin. There is a showcase neck I am staring at that I really like, and would jump on if it wasn't a standard thin. Never having played one, is there any chance that given the above parameters I could learn to love the neck? How does the standard thin compare to a 2008 USA standard strat?

Cheers!

All my warmoth necks are standard thin, I have tried a 59 roundback from Troubledtreble and I like that alot.  I also have an Ibanez which has a super thin neck.  I like them all, I think it's just a matter of getting used to them.

I wouldn't avoid a gorgeous neck because of the profile, but I understand how some people would. I like all my guitars to sound diferent and feel diferent too

All my necks are "Standard Thin" as well. I think some people get put off by "thin" being included in the name. The necks aren't really thin. I'd just call them "Standard" if it were up to me. If you look at the profile drawings on Warmoth's site, you can see there isn't a great deal of difference between most of the neck profiles. The most radical profiles they do are the "Boat" and "Fat" necks, and they're only 2 tenths of an inch thicker than a "Standard Thin". If a difference that small gives someone a serious problem, chances are they've got other issues that a different neck profile isn't going to help/hurt. Although, I will say it's surprising how much influence small differences can have in the short term.

neck profile is part of speed of the neck. rhythm players and lead players want 2 different things in a neck, along with that your hand size. having said that, your lead players seem to want big necks with jumbo frets and that is opposite of what I like, I am part of the rhythm section. I do not need to shred, but need to be able to do 4 chord voiceings and a run coming off a chord to the next. I want to be able to twist my hand and extend a chord wider than most guys know. it is a Jazz thing. Now. how does this affect what you want?
Standard thin is a base that most guys play, it is one of the most sold necks because it is so adaptable to so many styles, I order it because it feels good, however my favorite neck I have ever owned is actually slimmer and I can fret chords fingerings 5 frets apart. All my lead players hate my neck as it is to narrow for them.

Decide your style, let you teacher show you proper technique, and go for the neck you like

I don't know what an 08 Std Strat neck feels like, but I have a Godin Acousticaster and a Hamer T-62 Strat type guitar and both of those have typical Fender necks. They're ALMOST too thin, but feel fine. I just got my Warmoth build neck today and it's a Standard Thin. It's a little hard to tell without strings on it, but to me it feels a little bit meatier than those other two necks. You'll probably be fine.

I don't know how anyone could think a Standard Thin is "too thin", but to each his own. The Wizard -- now THAT'S too thin.

I'm the same way. I own quite a few guitars, so I have neck shapes all over the place. I've gotten pretty good at easily transitioning from one to the other. That said, there are certain shapes I've come to like better than others. Without having held either in my hand yet, I believe my preference would fall between, and include, a Standard Thin and a 59 Roundback. I say this because my Suhr has very similar measurements to the W Thin, and from recent discussion here it seems the Roundback is very close to my favorite PRS wide/fat setup.

And it is pretty amazing that such a small difference in size can feel huge in your hand. Aren't we a picky-ass bunch!
