So I've been looking online at finishing necks (youtube videos and that sort of thing) And i was thinking of using tru oil on the neck but i also want to darken it ? What products can i use to darken the wood to get a more amber look before finishing with tru oil ? Ive seen some people use bullseye amber shellac but i can't find that anywhere and can you use that if applying tru oil after ?

You can't find Bulls Eye Amber Shellac? My local Home Depot has it as does most of the HW stores I go to. If you can't find something local here are some alternatives:

Here is a whole thread on tinting tru-oil itself: http://www.tdpri.com/forum/finely-finished/206576-tinting-tru-oil.html

I haven't done it but based on using tru-oil like products for other wood working projects it should be fine over just about any product that is full cured, but I think it's a strange choice over Lacquer/shellac since those are already hard finishes. Iffn it was me I'd spray Nitro clear over a tinted neck, or use poly if I was in a hurry (sets hard in a day rather than weeks).

Im from the UK and i've not seen the amber bullseye anywhere and the company said it is discontinued here. I would rather not spray the neck with lacquer as i was watching this video and i really liked the look of the tru oil over a tinted neck it gave a really nice finish and it seemed like a much simpler process for a first build than using lacquer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vtuJ495R9qU

I've used the Vintage Amber Colortone stain (available from StewMac here) under oil finishes to do basically the same thing you describe.

I've used Tru Oil over almost everything too, what you're asking is no problem. +1 to Ddbltrbl, I use StewMac stuff as well, great products, and ezas is right on, Reranch is top notch and full of great info, I learned a lot there when I started doing finishes. Here's another useful link-
