Squier '51; Purpleheart neck... now what?

Ok, so lots of bad pictures.  I didn't intend to put this neck on this guitar, but it sorta just works for me in an odd way.  I'm tempted to just replace the neck pickup (which is awful) and call it a day, but I'm still open to ideas.  Yes, those are just grover tuners... apparently Jayswear had Schaller locking tuners on this neck, and the diameter of the holes AND placement of the screwhole were exactly the same, so I just tossed on a set I had laying around and strung it up.  I spent a bit of time calling around to hardware stores looking for the thin-walled 5/16" socket to adjust the truss rod, but never found it.  I ended up going to Kevin at Affordable Guitar in Sumner.  It was after shop hours, and he let me in his living room to help me adjust it, and then lent me the tool since he didn't have an extra to sell, and the purpleheart is so hard that we weren't sure it wouldn't need adjusting again.  Great guy; very cool shop if you haven't been there.

Anyway, here's one of the projects I'm working on, and Bass VI pics with a real camera as soon as I get the strings!

That looks very nice!

I've found that stiffer neck woods like Purpleheart and Bubinga take some time to fully react to adjustments in the truss rod.

Hey Looks Great.

Glad to see that neck get a good home!
Purpleheart is some stiff stuff, but really a great neckwood if you ask me.

I can't get over how much I like the purpleheart.  I'm really busy at work today, and it's sitting here next to my desk, so I keep setting myself goals to accomplish before I'll let myself pick it up again.

i love it! that is definitely one cool combination, and not one i would have thought would be so perfect. glad to see that neck getting some good use!

So, I was working on having a lazy saturday morning, and was testing out neck pickups.  I think I found what I want in there, but the black cover doesn't fit it.

In order to keep progress moving forward, I ran the guitar by my luthier to have the nut filed more to my liking.  It's amazing now.  Certainly one of the best playing guitars I've held, ugly or not.

I'm also excited about the guitar body he's builing me for my cocobolo neck.  It's a carved top soloist style body in mary kay.  I just have to pick the piece of top wood and he'll get going.
