Can't believe it, but the strings at the nut feel cramped on my 1 11/16" Tele compared to the Strat with the wider nut.  The 1 3/4" nut width is def worth checking out for those of you that are curious.

I'd be tempted to try that in a nylon string style. Someone on here made a nylon stringed strat that was pretty cool. I think on a normal basis for me thow would be too wide. 1-11/16" is about max. Most of mine are 1-5/8..

My strat is 1 3/4, but my Jaguar is going to be 1 5/8 when it's all together. I like the 1 5/8 the most, although 1 3/4 is pretty boss.

It's amazing how much different such a small change can make. I prefer the 1 11/16" nut, but a 1 3/4" nut is only 1 12/16". Spread that out over six strings, and the spacing change is negligible. Feels huge, though.

Wider nut = heavier neck for sure.

But I was curious...what is the absolute thinnest possible back contour of a neck that is still able to accommodate a truss rod and the tension from the strings when tuned?

For instance...take Wizard back contour...pretty thin right? Is it the absolute THINNEST back contour able to accommodate a truss rod, or just the thinnest that would do all that and still be relatively comfortable to the human hand?

I like my 1 11/16" width neck. So much so that'd I'd consider 1 3/4" except I'd rather not increase the weight in the process (especially with a semihollowbody which already feels enough like a tennis racket as it is).

I have also been thinking a lot lately about how the hand works when it grabs/closes.
I am thinking maybe baseball bat width neck...the phat end, not the handle.  But not as heavy ???

I noticed this exact thing going from a guitar with an R3 Floyd nut to the R4 on my Warmoth.  Both widths are 1 11/16.  It feels like there's so much more room for chording.

It's like some kind of Sea Shell nylon string electric guitar with "f" hole.  :icon_thumright:
