hi guys,

soon receiving my next build and i am still undecided what to do with the neck. it will be a solid indian rosewood neck (and fretboard). i am undecided between not finishing it and using some layers of tru oil.

did anybody of you have experience with rosewood necks? will the famous feel of the neck go away with tru oil?

and if i decide to not finish, how would you treat it over time? i thought of lemon oil (the stuff they sell for fretboards). any opinions?

thanks and best
johnny

All depends what you like, but if you want to feel the rosewood, why would you be putting on a finish? I have a rosewood neck with no finish, and to me that's the point.

Treatment over time? Mmh, what do you now with your rosewood fretboards? Do the same. Also, the lemon oil stuff is unnecessary. Take a pro tip and use mineral oil. A lot cheaper, and when you're done put it in the kitchen for your cutting board.

I like the Dunlop “lemon oil” for fretboards, even though Rick says it is overpriced. He is probably right though!
