So you play metal? And think that wood, pickups, strings matter? Well ...

Maybe it's more a question of what amp you choose and how you dial it in:

Oh wow that's awesome! I would probably be better at this than playing guitar seeing as I've played Violin for 9 years (though not religiously). That's actually a really good sound that he has got out of them.

Sounds just as rambunctious as those djent players on guitars.

Now Axkoa's secret is out :-)

rambunctious?
Had to look that up. Now I know. Thanks for this word of the day. :icon_thumright:

(hey guys, it's been a while!)

I definitely think the wood, pickups, and strings matter a lot, but also the amp. Not even just the pre/power amp, but the cab. The cab you use, and how it's mic'd up (if you're recording) makes up probably more than half of your tone. Even two cabs with the same type of speaker can sound completely different. Putting a 5150 through a Mesa oversized with v30's, will sound infinitely different from a Marshall cab with v30's.
Just my two cents, but I believe it to be true!  :rock-on:

These videos show really what I think about talk about woods with full distortion on amp plus booster or distortion pedal...

Never thought I'd see Cellos used quite like that. Pretty unusual. What's next? Banjo through a tube screamer into a Marshall stack on 11?

Metal on an accordian perhaps...

Some of it reminds me of Smooth Criminal...

Or perhaps Thunderstruck may be more your thing....

Tina went to conservatory for cello performance, and here she is doing her metal thing, with a shameless ENGL endorsement.  :headbanging:

The cello is absolutely the most "heavy metal" instrument of all, and the guitar is a distant second.  A bow is incredibly powerful and flexible compared to a pick, and a cello is 5 semitones lower than a guitar... brutal.  Violins, they are NOT metal, although they do play some of the most demanding music in the world.  (At least in my mind.)

I totally agree about the demanding part.
