So my cousin has this body

So, my cousin got this body many moons ago. Maybe 2004 or thereabouts. Anyhow, he got it painted and then it just lived in its box since. What he's wondering, now that he's got the urge to finish it, is whether he needs a 24.75" scale neck (since it's an LPS style body) or not.

I'm 99% sure that everything Warmoth has done takes a standard 25.5" scale Strat heel neck (minus the Tele stuff).

Am I right or am I an idiot?

Well, a Strat measures 6 3/4 in from the bottom edge of the heel pocket to the center of the tremolo pivot screws. That's for a vintage style Strat trem with six screws. I can't remember if a two point varies from this or not. But it shouldn't be much if it does.

Well, this is routed for a Floyd Rose.

But I think the overall question is... Did Warmoth even make bodies that required a specific 24.75" neck or did the LPS just rock 25.5" scale unless a conversion neck was used?

If the body was intended to use a Floyd, it is most likely done for Fender scale length. But that's not guaranteed, no.
If it's a Warmoth body, then the best would be to e-mail Warmoth and ask.

Considering Warmoth is closed and Double A is posting videos from home, I figured this place was the next best thing, especially since Aaron does run the place.

To be 100% sure, if there's any chance of getting a Strat or Jazzmaster or a Jaguar, you or your cousin could try to unmout its neck, put it on that body, put strings and see if it notes correspond to frets with a tuner.

Well, between us, necks aren't an issue. The issue right now is that I'd be putting this together for him and... Well... We're all on lockdown here in Jersey, so I can't even physically get a hold of the stuff at the moment.

So, are you telling me that Warmoth (this is a Warmoth body in question) has made LPS bodies with a neck pocket that requires a 24.75" neck? I feel like answering that question is the simple solution, since this is a Warmoth piece.

As far as I can tell Warmoth makes bodies primarily for 25,5” scale necks. The exception are the 24” scale models, Jaguar, Mustang and Jagstang.
And the last exception are the 7/8 models, 7/8 Strat and 7/8 Tele that only works with their designated necks (and 24” scale necks).
So, in other words, that’s a body made for 25,5 scale necks.
Now of course you can use a 24,75” scale conversion neck on any body made for 25,5” scale necks.

If you're sure it's a Warmoth body, then it will be made for a 25.5" Fender spec neck. Of course it could also take a Warmoth 24.75" conversion neck.

Regardless of what it is, measure the heel to bridge distance. That's what you need to know.

Awesome. That's the answer I was looking for, a confirmation of what Warmoth does. My cousin ordered it himself and it's in the box shipped from Warmoth, so yeah.

Thanks, guys!

The distance from heel to bridge mentioned earlier still applies if it is a Floyd rout. That is why if you order from the showcase for example a choice of routs including for a Floyd is possible as the basic position is the same.

Exactly, that's why I answered the way I did. That measurement tells you what scale length the body was intended for. What Warmoth offered at the time is not as important as what dimensions were used on that particular body. :icon_thumright:

yo the title of this thread gave me different expectations ,lol. that's a cool guitar body, tho. is that a shape the big W still offers? I've never seen it. or have i?  o_O

They're no longer available. Their making them was making baby Gibson cry.
