So how strong are these necks?

The reason I ask is that I've finally finished my bass build and seriously, I'd have it next to the bed, in the car, at work... everywhere. It's simply the best bass I've ever played. I like it so much that I'd like to use it for ALL my gigs however a lot of the songs written by the likes of Hendrix and SRV are detuned a half step so D#, G#, C#, A# etc. I have two basses that I leave detuned permanently and they are the ones I use for these blues gigs.

The reason I leave them detuned and use other basses for normal gigs is that somewhere along the line someone told me that datuning and retuning the bass for different shows at random times can damage the neck. I asked the builders at Sandberg how thier bass necks would hold up and they reckon it's no sweat.

The Warmoth neck I have has is steel reinforced so I wonder if it would be fine to detune, retune randomly as well.

Or am I just being O.C.D and fully overthinking it?

Here's my new baby :-)

You're fully overthinking it.  :icon_biggrin:

If you love it, play the snot out of it.

Sometimes I wonder if there's some secret conspiracy group out there that exists purely to spread disinformation about stringed instruments. The only fly in the ointment is that there doesn't seem to be any good motivation for it.

Jealous drummers, maybe?
