Shorting out? Ground problem? HELP NEEDED

Just wired up my single volume 1 hum super strat with braided single conductor wire-p/u to pot and pot to jack.

Works then it don't work-what is going on?

I soldered p/u's single conductor sheild to back of pot then center conductor of p/u wire to left most lug.

On the jack I soldered the braid to ground and center conductor to tip hot lug on jack.  And then took it this way to the pot where I soldered the braid to back of pot and right lug and center conductor hot to center lug.

Entire cavity is sheilded with copper tape, wires seem to be all isolated from each other-ground wire to back of trem claw and soldered as well as back of pot.

Any suggestions? Ideas? Experience with this before-Must be something I am overlooking.

I wonder if having the p/u mounted to a solid one piece aluminum spacer is doing it. It was a direct to wood mount rout and p/u had short legs-would setting this p/u on the aluminum ground it out? I mean through the p/u legs just setting on the aluminum?
