well i was hoping to put in a music man and a rio grande powerbucker into it , with a volume for each and a tone, but i was thinking of putting a three way on/on/on switch down in there by getting someone i know to drill the appropriate sized hole in the control pocket, but how easy would this be to wire up? and with this would i be able to put a tone for each pick up in there? just not use it when both are being used.

i was hoping to put the powerbucker in the neck position and music man at the bridge, and have the switch being powerbucker/both/musicman.
Would this be possible to wire, with or without a second tone for each to have a tone? oh and itll be passive.

Would that way round be best or the other way round, for where they are positioned i mean.

That's pretty much just standard Les Paul wiring.

You can do one or two tones without any problem.
I think I already explained to you the interaction with two tone controls though, correct? (I go through this several times a week on TalkBass.)

yeah you did, thanks very much, and oh right i came across a les paul wiring with the three way switch and thought it might be right, so ill go ahead using that diagram, it also makes the two pick ups seperate circuits almost with each tone and volume connected to them except for at the switch where the middle connects both, but yeah ill go with that and remember to not use one tone with both one, maybe try do a push pull on one that disables one? haha, complicated but funky control system? Yes please  :cool01:, unless that could be dangerous, then bad

Trying to disable a tone control when both are in the circuit is beyond overkill.

Just pick either tone control and use it. You can set the other one on full or something. Whichever of the two is at the lower setting will take over.

do you think there is a way that i could wire it so that could just have one tone, that can work for each setting?  as in just one, both, or the other?

Why would you want to do that? That's extremely overkill.

If you wanted to do a switch to select master tone or two tones, that would be do able.

sorry didnt explain that enough, i meant have master tone, two volumes, and the three way switch of powerbucker/both/humbucker, and just use one tone for all those settings, as in one that would for each on there own and both together. hope that made sense now

So just a master tone then?
That's the best approach to doing this IMO.

The tone control just runs after the pickup selector switch.

yeah, and oh right, any clues how you might wire that? sorry to be a hassle.

thanks, saved a copy of that, when i get the parts hoping to make this up with my old bass teacher or make it up, have a one off bass "lesson" and ask if he can help fine tune the setting up,
