Hey All.

I had some SD's in my first metal guitar which was a starter Ibanez and loved them.
I have two guitar projects on the go, one completely hand made and another one a warmoth project.
My hand made shape is an explorer which will be used for more aggresive styles of music.
I was thinking about going for the Invader SH-8? Comments?

The Invaders are really awesome pickups, I tried a set on my friend's guitar, and the absolutely sceam :headbang1:
I would say that these are go-to-pickups if you like music that's heavier than hard rock. They are not well-suited for the super-clean stuff, but they shred everything when it comes to heavy riffing or agressive soloing. :icon_thumright:
You should also consider coil-tapping, it actually worked really well. :icon_jokercolor:

Thanks Alot.
Only problem now is to try and pick up a set in the UK for less than £100!
I can get em from US for £100 from Ebay, but would rather order from a better source.
Know anywhere?

My only suggestion would be to try the Synyster Gates signature guitar from Schecter, assuming you find one... :dontknow:
At the least, you should check a few videos on YouTube...

Good luck, mate :icon_thumright:

I am familiar with it and was considering purchasing a Schecter for a while! More options here though!  :icon_biggrin:

Might end up going with something not quite as gritty after listening and viewing some samples.
My band mainly plays Punk/Metal.

I played my friend's fender hot rod tele. It's mahogany with a set neck and a single invader bridge pickup and volume control. It was very crunchy sounding, and yet rich and full. You could get away with nice sounding legato leads, even without a neck pickup. It's my favorite passive metal pickup (out of the ones I have tried).

I have always been impressed with the quality control of SDs. they seem to nail the sound every time. Something a lot of boutique PU makers could learn.
I had a axe with a single invader years ago, I really wish I had never sold that axe. The output and tone of the thing was great. It served me well until I was offered more than I paid so it went bye bye. Very hot PU

You could also try the SD SH-6 (duncan distortion). I don't know where you can find some to test, other than the Max Cavalera or Wayne Static signature-guitars from ESP.
The SH-6 is not as face-ripping as the invader, but it still packs a real punch. :icon_thumright: Also, SD recommends it for punk :toothy.11:

I have the sh-6's  in 4 guitars and love them all! A good choice!  :icon_thumright:

The SH-5 rocks pretty hard too. I droppped one in my red Jackson and it packs a wallop. it's a little bright for that guitar though...

Looking at the suppliers site I use here, and I can order them in Australia for 139.90 Australian dollars = 86 British pounds. I'm guessing you should be able to probably find them cheaper than that in the UK
