on the other hand, it seems like I am finally making some friends!!

However she must be mistaken because when she says she

heard you were very good in bed so I've always wanted to experience that.

It becomes clear that she mistakenly mixed up your wrinting style with mine because she clearly is talking about me there.

In all seriousness, that is creepy and weird.  I have no idea how they found your name and email from just a CL ad, unless you also replied to a serious inquiry that directly addressed your guitar ad, then they just used the contact info from that email response.  I always assumed the anonymous Craigs List email response system was relatively safe if you took appropriate precautions.  Perhaps its not as safe as I thought.

Actually - I believe that's one of the more popular uses of craigslist.

Most of my craigslist postings generate a similar response.

Four of these almost immediately:  I want to buy your _object_. Its very clear from my broken Engrish that I have no clue what this object is, or its purpose, but I want it so badly I'm willing to send you a check for 20-100x its value, then you can send me the object and the balance back.

Then 3-10 days later I get a trickle of "I see you're selling your instrument on craigslist for $300. Even though a quick scan of ebay shows that items in far worse condition in the past 30 days have been going for $500-600, I wonder if you'll take $50 for it without me ever having looked at the object."

I also get one or two "I saw your bass for sale on craigslist. I'm a former Nigerian princess and I need money to bail my relatives out of jail. If you send me $5000 now, I can promise you $500,000 once my uncle is freed from his unjust imprisonment."

Then about 44 days later, just before it expires, "Hey do you still have it for sale?"

Only the last one ever converts into a real sale, and about 1/3 - 1/2 of those do.

Yeah, I'm in Melbourne Oz. That seems to be a big scam right now. My parents seem to get them all the time. I don't as I don't have a land line.  :icon_biggrin:

I wound up getting the same response when I attempted to sell a riding lawnmower on CL a couple of years ago, but that wasn't the worst of it. The worst of it was when my wife checked my e-mail to see if I had gotten any bites on the mower, and saw all of those lewd e-mails. That took some explaining.....
