the specs say : tapped for dual output levels

what does tapped mean in this context? this is only a single coil right?

These pickups are wound just like a regular single coil...then another winding (ususally about the same number of turns) is added on top.
This gives a choice of two output levels.
In addition, the lower output sound is generally brighter, the full output sound is fatter.
Lots of fun!

(I have a Tele with the tapped version of the SD Hot Tele bridge pickup)

phil, can i have some idea of how you use the two coils? and how you use it with the neck pickup? and what kind of music you play etc?

i'm slightly turned of the sd quarter pounder as it is supposed to be very p90ish? is that right? any views?

When I hear "SD Quarter Pounder" I think of Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow.  I'd expect lots of mids.

Tapped is not the same thing as split. This is a common misunderstanding.
