Does anyone this this would look dumb? Or know of any reasons I would have problems with this?

Oh! P.S. A million thanks to DeWayne (muttznmongrelz) for the full shred!  :headbang: :icon_thumright:

i had a bridge similar to that on my squier 51. as cool as the rollers on that one are, i think you'd have the same problem i did... the heigh adjustment screws literally tore holes in the palm of my hand. it sucked :-\ you could sand down the height adjustment screws. otherwise i think this is a really cool design

the best way to tell though might be to take the bridge off your guitar and measure up all the screw holes and string spacing and all, then check on the diagrams for the 475. it looks like the middle section of the tele is somewhat flat like the VIP or a PRS

Meh, I'd go for the hipshot hardtail or a wraparound - there's a new wraparound at stewmac that looks really nice. Schroeder?? A TOM looks odd, the tailpiece placement is too far back and makes the whole thing look weird. Forgot where I saw that one.

I think they look pretty cool, I don't know how they sound or if the strings slip out of the rollers.

Here's someone's modded Squier '51 with one:

...the bridge is a Schaller 475. Used a drill press and had to measure the scale using measurements from stew mac—unlike another member who installed using the former existing bridge's indent on the body wood—to install it. The 3 screw holes are in parallel which gave me a headache with getting it straight. I had to get a repair tech to get the thing lined up straight.

The bridge on the Carved Top Tele you have is like the Squier '51 bridge, with screws at the corners, except on the '51, the strings don't go through the body.

So a place you might run into trouble is where the strings passed through the body relative to where the 3 mounting screws go for the Schaller.

I'm also thinking of some sort of piezo system, but I've never put on in a guitar so I'm kinda :sad1:

There's a rumor going around that a Piezo system when sharing the the same ground as a passive pickup system produces a high pitch whine.

You should play one before cutting up a good guitar.

Were you talking about the 475? Or the peizo?

I have a schecter with passives and a peizo system and there's no whine, so Idk about that one. Then again Idk how exactly it's wired either.

Not sure about the high pitch whine issue. I guess this is dependant on the type of piezo system you use. I am currently working on a graphtech acousti-phonic piezo build. With this system the magnetic pickups actaully get wired up to the piezo pre-amp. So they actually become part of the active circuit. I haven't heard any whineing issues from this kit.

Have you used the graphtech before? Did you like it? I'm pretty sure the ones I have in the guitars I have them in are L.R. Baggs. Idk exactly though, they came with the guitars and from the info I found online I believe them to be L.R. baggs. But the graphtech system looks pretty nifty. I have liked every graphtech product I've ever tried sooo....

The graphtech system is pretty awesome. This was actaully one I installed in a friends guitar. VS-100 trem. Graphtech Piezo saddles. In my opinion its one of the only kits that actaullt sounds like an acoustic. The pre-amp and custom crystals they use make all the difference. Sounds pretty much like this:
