Just out of the box.

Nice 2-piece Alder hardtail from the showcase, finished in Satin Daphne Blue. Will get gold hardware, a BK Holydiver in the bridge, DiMarzio BC-1 in the neck, not decided for the middle pos yet, but probably a DiMarzio Area 67.

Not the best lighting conditions today for pics, as it's cloudy and dark, but nevertheless, here's a pic.

Here's a pic of the raw showcase body before the purchase and Daphne Blue finish:

Probably a shame that I covered it up in solid paint, as it had some really nice grain, but I really wanted Satin Daphne Blue for this project.

Very nice project.  :headbang:

Which pickguard will you use?  Looks like you are a bit undecided..
Thanks  :)

When I was planning the project, I couldn't decide, so I bought 4 of them. I really like the white/black/white, single-ply white but also the mint green one.
The pearloid is nice too, but I think it's going to be one of the 3 former ones.

Heres another quick mockup.
I think I like it!

The components are really traditional, so the white pickguard suits it.  Gold details are an unexpected but attractive accent.

I'm going to go the opposite direction to y'all and say you've already gone for a (slightly) fancy finish and gold hardware; might as well go all-in and use the pearl guard.

I like the "disappearing" pickup thing, where there's a really close match between the plastic of the pickup covers and the pickguard itself.  Especially with that black humbucker in the bridge - folks would see that and be "oooohhh, single bridge pickup, huh!" then get closer and be "whoah, you've got a full set of pickups in there!".

Seriously, though, those gold accents on the blue and white look killer!

I agree... I always thought Daphne Blue just screams for gold hardware and a bright white guard.!
