I see Warmoth has brought back the satin black finish option.

can someone tell me about this finish?  will it eventually turn to "gloss" over time after lots of instrument play?  is it a durable finish...just as "thick" as a gloss topcoat?

thank you

Yes, it probably you become gloss in the parts your skin/clothes are touching frequently...

Like Fernando said, it will probably gloss from wear.

I have three Warmoths, all with satin/matte finishes on the body.  Even with the glossy areas from use, I love them.  They feel worn in, even when brand new.  It gives them a slightly older appearance, not to mention they are always photogenic.  Less glare and no fingerprints visible.  I tried posting a few picks, but the glossy wear doesn't show up.

Their satin neck finish is nitro and the satin finish on their bodies is a different process.  I don't know if it's nitro, but I bet we'd see a lot more of them it that were the case and it were known, IMO.  My ears can't tell the difference in tone with poly vs. nitro, but others say they can.

Actually, I think it would be great if they offered a satin option on all their finishes. I think gloss looks OK on solid/metallic colours, but with any finish where you can see the wood grain, I would always prefer satin.

I know one time I emailed them and just asked them if they would do satin and they said yes, so im pretty sure you can have any finish in satin. They just said it would take like an extra two weeks or so for cure time.
