They should include that picture in the psychology texts on cognitive dissonance. It's like dogs playing poker.

I would have thought it more as cognitive disequilibrium.... :icon_biggrin:

I'm not into Floyds but the guitar looks great. I like the dull green and how it mixes with the color of maple and the white pickups. Also the body has nice curves, it looks like a curved body. The Ibanez headstock is a classic, I always liked it.

I think that looks pretty sweet. But i hate wizard necks and so there's never any chance of my enjoying the majority of Ibanez's offerings. :(
I saw this recently on Craigslist and I was like "WHOA"
but a wizard neck is as dealbreaker like no other.

surf green with cream pickups looks awesome though. It'd be awesome to see Satch playing a customized Jet King guitar with that color scheme, but i know that aint his thing. I do think it's a little bit lame when you have artists who just wnat to make 8 versions of the same guitar.

I'm the same way about the necks. I'd really like to try Ibanez's latest refinements of the Floyd Rose - by my left hand needs meat in the neck, it's become more of a necessity than a preference as I popped out of the downhill side of fifty years old. And I like seven-strings too, not for the lower notes but because it adds a whole extra... umm... string you can use playing wide, spread chords up the neck. In practical terms, this means Schecters, or a complete custom + $2,000 guitar, because Ibanez set the standard with their Wizard toothpicks and everybody plays follow the leader. I built a Warmoth seven, but they only come one way - standard thin neck, which is a lot closer to the Wizards than to a boatneck for sure. :laughing3: And the 25" scale length is just barely possible. And their seven baritone is too long, waaaah. I've though hard about fattening Warmoth necks with surfboard/auto body stuff - I know it would work, but it's way too stinky for where I live right now.

Satriani does not have wizard necks on his guitars, he has his own profile. It's been years since I played his guitar but I wouldn't be surprised if it's thicker than Warmoth standard thin.

That looks both amazing and disgusting at the same time  :tard:

I know exactly what you mean. It's very cool, but also very ugly.

I don't care for blue, especially baby blue. Oddly enough, I prefer Maple to Rosewood on most Fender-ish things, but I usually don't like Maple on Ibanezes or modern-looking basses.

Btw, I have a theory that an Ibanez JS model would be absolutely stunning in metallic black with a Bloodwood neck, or Alpine White with a Bubinga neck. :blob7:

Satch's guitars don't have the Wizard neck, and the necks on his guitars are quite chunky.
The Wizard-II is more like a Standard Thin Warmoth in terms of shape & thickness.

You might go back and check comparisons, the Satch models have a prestige profile which is very similar to the Wizard II. And in no way close to the Warmoth standard thin.

Wizard 2
43mm wide at nut
56mm wide at last fret
19mm thick at first fret
21mm thcik at 12th fret
400mm radius

JS Prestige Profile
a:  Width at Nut 42mm
b:  Width Last Fret 56mm
c:  Thickness 1st Fret 20mm
d:  Thickness 12th Fret 22.3mm
Radius 250mm

The radius is the fretboard..

so its a HAIR thicker and a bit rounder. And a Warmoth standard thin is already too thin for my tastes.

The radius is a non-issue because you can get just about any radius on a Standard thin. The Standard thin is advertised at .800 to .850". The Satriani neck is advertised at .790" to .878". Not much difference. Slightly thinner at the nut, and slightly thicker at the 12th. Obviously not the same, but "similar".

I have found the Wizard-II becks to be inconsistent, as in thicker than advertised (on 3 that I have played).

You are most likely right that they are inconsistant, I would imagine that most are give the finish work that's done by hand....But I would also think the fretboard would have a great deal to do with the feel, as we're talking about a 5 inch diofference in radii between the two....400mm = 15" radius and 250mm = 10" radius... :dontknow:
