The question is in the topic.

Here are some examples to the Sadowsky Standard S body shape:

Is it a soloist? or strat? I thought it's a soloist but now I doubt it.

Thanks

There's not a helluva lotta difference between the two, so it's easy to mistake one for the other sometimes. These don't seem to have as large a radius on the body edges as a Strat does, but the horns don't seem to be cut as deep as a soloist. I always look for the carved top to call it a Soloist, although they don't all have that. Tough to say.

From where the body joins fret position wise and the shape the Sadowsky at the top and bottom of the fretboard it looks closer to a Strat to me.

I suppose you could try overlaying a picture of the Sadowsky over a strat or soloist for a more accurate comparison.

To me it looks like they took a standard strat shape and just thinned the horns a little bit, and like Cagey said didn't but as large of a roundover on afterwards. If it was just the round over I think the horns would actually look a little bigger.

So sort of thinned out the horns a little, but didnt change the cutaways, if that makes sense.

According to a former mod, Warmoth is no longer (and hasn't for a while) supplying Sadowsky with parts.  I say that because while Warmoth may have the Strat and Soloist, if another company's offering doesn't exactly fit in either box, it's their prerogative.  Before reading the responses, my first thought was Cagey's conclusion.  Very close to a Strat with a smaller edge radius.  Legally it could be closest to the Strat because those shapes aren't copyright protected.  I'm unsure what the reproduction legality is for the Soloist.

I suspected it's a more strat like shape.
I find the Sadowsky shape very appealing. I think I'll take a soloist though. Thanks.
