Sad... so I'm going to buy myself a toy from BYOC

I reeeeaaaaallllyyy want the analog delay, but it says it's a very difficult build, so I won't be doing that one for a while.

I used to lurk on the forums a lot, that's actually how I found Warmoth I think.

Also, no batteries! Stick a 9V adapter on it and get a OneSpot. Better for the environment.

I'll look into it.  With all these pedals I'm going to have, I'm sure it will come in handy.  I still want most of my pedals to have the ability to house a battery though.  Having that optional portability is nice.

That's true. Gets all that filthy coal out of the ground and into the air where we can see it and deal with it.

hey nickel mining is pretty bad for the environment too, its a bag part of the hybrid car debates. (rechargable batteries are nickel metal hydride) and what happens to alkiline bateries when we throw them away? but at the current of a pedal do we have to split hairs? or maybe that's precisely what cagey is getting at?

anyway pedals are always fun electronics projects. i dont know what will be the best for you hannaugh but have fun.

I like some battery capacity, or else it's worth putting a bit of change into a decent power supply. I love those OneSpots or the equivalent Rocktron "OnTap" etc., but when you start running a series of things off of a single OneSpot and some polarity or grounding issues arise, yeeks - if you're out on a gig, a handful of 9v. batteries FIXES the problems right then and there because it isolates each effect. I don't even really know what technically goes wrong, but it sure can suck. When you see a band that's supposed to start at 9 and the guitarist is still crawling around on the floor at 9:45..... "hmmm mebbe this'll work...."  :tard: :sad1: :icon_scratch:

And if you're not toting one of these at the very least, don't say "it's not my fault...."

Art so far.  I might do another version yet.

That seems like a lot of effort for an a/b box, but I have to admit that if I put more effort into cosmetics my amp heads would have likely sold 10x more than they did.

A surprisingly large number of special effects manufacturers use the center pin on their power connectors as ground, as opposed to the sleeve, leaving the hot side of your power supply exposed all over the place just begging to be shorted to ground on some exposed metal somewhere. It's poor practice, but it seems to have become almost standard. Still, there are those who do it right and oddly enough they're the ones who leave you in trouble.

Then there are one or two effects manufacturers out there - I think Digitech is one - who don't use a DC supply. Their wall warts are simply step-down transformers that supply 12-18 vac, and it gets rectified/filtered/regulated inside the effect. Not a bad idea, but if you do it in isolation from the rest of the industry, then you cause problems for the users.

Elderly Music carries all the 1 Spot (Visual Sound) adapter plugs, and it's worth it to dump $20 and get a few polarity reversers, and the 1/8" ones for the old Digitech pedals, and the battery adapters... maybe a 3.5mm one for the oddballs. The old Digitech (DOD) compressors and Graphic EQ's were made with the same grade of stuff as the Ross or Keeleys or what you'll pay Analog Man $50 to put into a $80 Boss pedal, and you used to be able to get them for $25 on the 'bay. I got boxes of boxes, but lately it seems like a volume pedal, a loud amp and some application of skill is all I want to bother with.

Just get a Voodoo Labs PP2+ and end all your power supply worries. I tried the 1-Spot and it was a humming nightmare in my setup because its a switching power supply, you want a linear power supply.

Other than the 24v adapter that goes with my Reverbulator pedal, everything else on my board is powered by the PP2+, including my switching system. All of my effects stay on all the time. The PP2+ is that good.

Man every time I see that board I wish I could afford a switcher like that.  I'd like to have a variety of effects to choose from but I can't do the tap dancing act with the four that I have.
That thing is awesome.

Not trying to hijack! Carry on, haha

Oh, and I'm very sorry for your loss.  Aside from losing a human member of the family, there is nothing worse than losing an animal.  I wish you peace through your time of grief.

Good luck with the pedal builds.

Haha, that's funny because I tried drawing Jeeves a bunch of times and I just could not get the Stephen Fry image of him out of my head.  Even when I have read the stories, I just see Fry and Laurie in my mind's eye.  Wooster I think can look a few different ways if I really try, but Stephen Fry just IS Jeeves to me, so that's how I drew him.  It's probably because I watched the show as a kid before I ever read the stories.
