routing for a floyd rose.....

this is my first guitar build. what is best way to correctly place and rout for a floyd rose. i made this from basswood.

I used StewMac's Floyd template for my Alder practice build, and that worked well, as all you have to do is measure the distance from the nut to the studs, and align the template over your centerline.
Their recess template is useless, however, as the sizing is way off, at least for my Schaller bridge. I had to reduce the size.

I'm beginning to wonder if any of their templates are worth a damn. Myself and someone else here has already had trouble with the neck pocket template, and now you're saying the Floyd template is out of scale? Doesn't anybody there listen to the feedback they get on their site?

The Floyd template is fine, the recces template is not.
