Router specifications for body work

Hi,

I need to rout my own pickup holes on a future body. My question is what HP do I require for hardwoods? Assume harder woods (bubinga, etc)

This router might serve to rout edges and electronic cavities as well.

Does anyone recommend a maker? Dewalt, Porter-Cable, etc.

Thanks, joz

I started wth an el cheapo router - disastrous. Ended up wouldn't stay in position locked fordepth, wouldn't sustain grip on bits - awful.
I bought a DeWalt DW625 - list price is mental but you can get it for under a 1/3 of that. Brilliant router. Quiet, smooth, accurate. Even the power cord is sturdy.
For PU routing I use two template router bits (bearing at the top) - one only ~ 1/4 depth, one ~ 1/2". Predrill the PU holes to depth with a big forstner bit to reduce the wear on the router bearings. Use a drill stand or a pillar drill.
