Rout for Ilitch Air Coil?

Anybody know if Warmoth would rout a body so the Ilitch air coil noise canceling system could be installed around the pickups, which is apparently the best way to do it? I know I could ask the Warmoth help line, but thought I’d test the waters here first…this is for a speculative future Strat build…Also, I know that Ilitch has versions that don’t require the rout, but I’ve heard speculation that they aren’t quite as good as the body rout that encircles the pickups. I think that’s how Suhrs are done nowadays, but haven’t removed the pickguard of my Suhr Standard Plus to find out. On that guitar, the single coils are dead silent, noise-wise, and are quieter than the bridge humbucker.

I suspect that rout is not available from Warmoth, but ask them or get someone local to do it if you are not set up to do the rout.

Is this what you are asking about?

If so, you might be better off using the one for "large cavities" and then either putting it in a Warmoth rear route or ordering a strat with the universal "swimming pool" route and installing it in that.

Also it appears that they offer the same thing already installed in a strat pickguard. I have done a lot of guitar wiring and shielding and the practical difference of installing this into the pickguard vs into the body directly under the pickguard wouldnt be enough to get me to route the body like that.

Not trying to sway you one way or the other, just looking at some practical options available.

Finally, having used Ilitch back plates on strats, I wouldnt give them a dime because the performance wasnt what is advertised. That is my particular experience though.

They strike me as the Vibram running shoes of noiseless solutions: only extreme geeks use 'em, and they all try just a little too hard to convert you, but has any pro runner ever actually won a marathon in them? Answer: no.

The Suhr SSCII noiseless system is a very close relative to the Ilitch system - the history I have read says that Ilitch invented it, Suhr used it several years before designing a successor, their SSCII, which John Suhr has acknowledged is very similar to the Ilitch system. The SSCII is the best noiseless system I’ve ever heard, period, and I don’t think I’m being an extreme geek by saying so. If the Ilitch system, which is available in rout and non-rout forms, can get close to the Suhr SSCII, then I would think seriously about using it (maybe in the must-rout form, maybe in a non-rout form) at some point. YMMV.

Maybe someday I'll give them a try. I would love to actually, but the barriers to entry always keeps me away. The main barriers being 1) Ilitch still has the most horrible website 1995 had to offer. Any information in it is buried so deep it's impossible to extract. 2) I don't want to modify my guitar. Do I need to? I can't tell. 3) There are plenty of other fantastic alternatives, so why put in the work of figuring it all out? 4) I have to spend another $300 in addition to the pickups? Yeesh.

And I promise I meant "extreme geek" as a term of endearment. I mean, who knows....maybe someday I'll be converted too, and join that squad of unicycle riders.

I try new things all the time. I even have a set of Bill Lawrence noiseless Tele pickups on the way to me as we speak....something I swore I would never do. LOL.
