Rosewood or Pau Ferro for a thumb picker?

I am in the final stages of a swamp ash Jazzmaster body build.  It will have a Duncan designed humbucker in the bridge position and a GFS Mean 90 (P90) in the neck.  Now it's down to the neck.  I am currently planning on a maple neck with either a rosewood or pau ferro fret board.  As I am a thumb and finger picker (rarely if ever use a pick), any thoughts as to which wood would be the better choice for smooth, clear tones?

From what I've heard, Pau Ferro has slightly more pop than rosewood. I think it falls in between rosewood and ebony.
