Rosewood necks are amazing. They're a little pricier but not by that much when you include the cost of finishing a maple or mahogany neck. Rosewood necks are played unfinished and have a very comfortable feel that some might describe as "fast" or "slick" and they also have great resonance.
If you really want to splurge there is a beautiful Brazilian Rosewood LP neck in the showcase right now. There is some question as to the ethicality of using Brazilian Rosewood these days (it's harvesting is very tightly controlled but a black market exists and it is very difficult to tell which was the origin) but this neck is already made so grab it if you can. Another popular option seems to be an Indian Rosewood neck with an Ebony fingerboard.
I've used an Indian and a Brazilian neck on a couple of builds. There is a touch of a "woody" tone for lack of a better word. Pronounced mids that are slighlty old school sounding, perhaps characterized as more complex in how different notes are cupped frequency-wise. I have heard reports from Rosewood neck owners of getting very good high frequencies though Rosewood would be typically considered a warm sounding wood. The awesome feel alone is enough to give one a whirl. Brazilian is denser than Indian so expect more note definition from it. Malagasy is halfway between Indian and Brazilian in that respect.
