Rocksmith Guitar software

I hadn't seen this before. I am sure it probably works but will it teach correct technique, fingerings etc.

Is it just a tool where folks mimic or do they learn the whys and wherefores also. It probably works depending on what someone wants to get out of it.

I have the first version for PS3. Couldn't get around it being too laggy. Hope they have fixed that for the new version. But I will probably not buy it anyway.  :dontknow:

It's a great thing that it can inspire new guitarist. But there is a lot more cool things you can do with the electric guitar than playing video games when you have passed the learning stage.

I haven't used Rocksmith, but I do have a JamVox. Very cool to be able to drop any .MP3 into it and isolate the lead part. You can speed it up, slow it down, transpose up and down steps as well. The modelers aren't great and the built-in effects are okay, but the point of it is to be able to play along with any .MP3. You can even mute the leads and bring all the backing tracks up to play along with that.

the other part of the JamVox is that it can be used as a USB converter. Cakewalk and Guitar Tracks Pro both recognize it as a USB input device, so I can use my line out or a preamp as input and send that straight into the DAW through the JamVox.

I guess the other part is that I've got a good enough ear to be able to play along with the song I'm learning a couple times and pretty much get it down. Tabs are readily available online too, so I'm not sure how much Rocksmith would really help me there.

They're pitching it as a learning tool and it may be great for that, but it's not something that I'd use.

I saw this on Steam today, and it kinda blew me away - never heard of this software before and it seems pretty bad azz.

What really caught my eye was the virtual jam mode (check out the You Tube video of Jerry Cantrell doing a demo).

Anyone own/used this before? Thoughts?

This is a fairly new product, but it's been around for about a year or two.  I've never seen it anywhere, so I'm yet to try it out, but I'd like to.  :party07:

I've been using Riffstation for a while now and really like it. It's simpler that Rocksmith; more like JamVox , but the isolation capabilities are great.
Rocksmith looks interesting! The concept is nice, but $3 - $5 for additional songs is pretty steep! And, the fact that I couldn't find that info on their website and had to look that up on Steam makes me a little nervous. I need to see more detail before I'd jump.  :dontknow:

I used the first one of 360 a lot and I loved it! It had a decent song collection and really does help with different playing techniques.

I bought this for a friend's son, and it's pretty cool.  Having said that, I'm holding out for Bandfuse to come out this month.  Very similar type of "game", but it uses real TAB, and they've allegedly done a lot under the hood to eliminate the latency issue.  I'll let y'all know once I have a copy.

I just bought this and it is really cool. I actually run it through a a/b y switch and send the guitar to my amp, result....0 latency. I have been learning guitar for about 20 years so maybe this will finally get me going.
