Hey all, TroubledTreble lives not far from me, he stopped by earlier today to showoff his new Guitar and pickups,

OMG is all I can say, His pups in this guitar are amazing, I ordered some on the spot, and this guitar of his will probably be seen in an upcoming guitar of the month, it's a dragon burst green zebra wood VIP with a zebra wood fretboard, i've seen pics before, but in real life its amazing.

Back to the point, I've known Ken since he started making pickups, and I'm here to tell you no one does more research into making a perfect pickup than Ken, No one.

For every pickup he's got for sale he's got 20 or more that didn't make it, those of you with his pups can vouch for that.

Just wanted to give a shout out to roadhouse pups, cuz Ken doesn't do it himself.

Which ones did you buy? Tell me about them. Can you take over the world? Ever played with a Seymour Duncan JB? If so, how do they compare to one of those?

The current version of my parts drawer tele has Roadhouse Specials in the mid & bridge w/ the Triple Crown Hb in the neck.
I am really happy! I wired it with a 5 way switch so that the Specials are typical Tele split  with a 4way. Then the Hb is position 5. Almost like 2 teles in 1 case. Worked out great.
This is a parts swapper special & B4 I put in the Roadhouse I tried several different types & brands of pups. I put the RHs in the 1st part of December and haven't had any desire to try anything new since then.
I did not try a JB  but did try  a SD'59 and a Gibson 490 in the neck. The Triple Crown I have is closest to the '59. I think Ken would twist it about any way you asked, if he can.
If I don't take over the world with this set it will more likely be lack of talent rather than bad pickups.

My RH's are True Blue P90's, so the comparison to the JB is not a useful one.  I did take over the world in my man-cave last night, though, jamming with my 11-year-old on drums.

Gee Cagey, good question, been a long time since I played a JB, would be an interesting A/B with those.

I can only change the world one Garage at a time, and so far it's just my garage, my dogs think I'm Eddie Van Halen.

You gotta love dogs. They think you walk on water no matter what you do, while cats would bust a gut if they could laugh.

Another +1 for Ken and Roadhouse pickups.  I've got a set of his humbuckers in my #1 guitar.

Great dynamics.  Very 'open' sounding with a nice crunch.  I would not consider myself a connnoisseur of humbuckers, but they are exactly what I wanted to hear.

Add me to the list. I bought a pair of single coil specials for a restoration I was doing. When I heard them I pulled them out, ordered a third one, and used them for an excuse to build a guitar around them.

Here I have Fenders, Lace Sensors, EMG SA's. The Roadhouse are my favorites.

I got the first couple of seven string pickups Ken made.  The bridge sounds very close to a nailbomb from BKP.  I have one of the NB's in my red Les Paul and there are some minor differences from Ken's.  The BKP has a bit more of a hissy tone, and the Roadhouse has the depth that everyone talks about.  It is quite high output, but you can hear each string distinctly.  Very cool.  The neck pickup is even cooler.  I am not much of a neck pickup guy, but it is groovie.  My buddy calls it, "Slank tone."  Open notes are just that, very slanky.  Quite a lot of fun to play, and they sound huge.  I have tried a lot of the boutique stuff and I have decided I am going to get at least three more sets of different Roadhouse flavors to upgrade projects when money is available.

My RH's are True Blue P90's...

Same here and they are as clean and harmonic as I have ever heard a set of pup's.  I have a sound clip running around this forum somewhere, just check the pickups section for it for a listen.  Everyone that plays the Tele with them loves the sound.  All future builds will have Ken's pickups in them.

I have Ken's pickups in several of my guitars, and can't recommend them highly enough.  I absolutely love all of them: Humbuckers, Strat, Tele, P-90s... just excellent.

I haven't installed mine yet so I can't speak to their performance, but I can attest to the superb build quality. These aren't some home-made experiments of questionable pedigree. They're professionally executed and compare to anything you'd get from any of the big names.

Adding to the love for Ken's pups. A great product and great customer service in every way. His 65s for strat are the best strat pups I've heard.

Check out my short review of his T-90 Tele bridge pickup:  http://www.unofficialwarmoth.com/index.php?topic=19024.0
