I just found this just happened yesterday.  Facelift and Dirt were my favorite Alice in Chains albums.  I found this little poem so I thought I'd share.

Mr. Brownstone
Hello, my name is Heroin
I am considered the biggest sin
I will become your worst nightmare
...Try me if you dare
But I am warning you
You’re in for one hell of a scare
Try me once
I will ease all of the pain inside your brain
But try me twice and I won’t play so nice
Once you roll up your sleeve
I will never leave
After I enter your vein
Your desire for me will drive you insane
I will lead you through the good and the bad
But when I am not with you
You will go mad
Hate me if you wish
But you will always come back for one more kiss
I will make you forget all of your fears
But when you’re done with me
I will leave you in tears
You will always be blinded by my white light
Because when I am with you
I make everything alright

Rest In Peace Mike...

Good point Cletus, you are right.  :sad1:

Seeing him play that Spector when I was a pre-teen inspired me greatly.  He was (and they were) a true force of nature.  It's a shame that the addiction won, but he's been begging to die for years.  To be honest, I'm glad he never kicked it and could live in a degree of denial about how their lives changed and his part in his friend's demise.  I don't often morn the deaths of people, honestly, but a piece of my soul died with him.  I know that sounds silly, and he hasn't even really been a human being for a long time, but I will always remember him as that passionate man who used music to speak to us in ways that I still don't fully comprehend.

Yeah, that's the hardest thing, he has publicly been battling his addiction for a long while now.  It killed him as a person a long time ago.  I don't even know why anyone would even want to try going down that road to begin with.  Too many lost heros.

Too sad, AIC was probably the best grunge band to ever emerge. Too bad so many of them turned to heroin, it's killed so many grungies, you'd think they'd learn from all the others before them that have fallen from such a wretched drug.Especially after seeing their own band members perish...

R.I.P.  Mike...

Kinda ironic to become famous for playing a song about heroin, and then dying from it...
