Why are we still putting rear trem covers on top of the wood? why can't the trem cover be recessed so it sits flush with the body? (just sayin') Is it a Fender licensing issue?

Can't be, I have a Fender (MIJ) with a recessed trem spring cover.  It may be a trem block issue for most bridges.  Lowering the cover the depth of the cover could hit the springs and trem block.  But as far as mounting plastic on top wood, pickguards do that.  IIRC, the license pertains to the recreating the headstock shape.

if W would offer this . . .  :blob7:

combine that with a matched finish wood trem cover, and yowza!!  :o

I left the trem cover off my strat.  I think it looks cool with the springs exposed.  :dontknow:

it is weird... I think most American strats are still not recessed, but my '80s MIJ strats also have the recess like yours..

Ummmmmmm. Okaaaaay  :-\

haha.. I usually leave them off too..
A friend of mine mentioned that he had a really bad experience once, involving bare trem springs.....

+2. At least offer it as an option. I don't think it would be that hard for them to program this into their CNC machine.

Like I mentioned before, it may be a clearance issue.  My MIJ Strat, I swapped the original bridge out for a more traditonal 6-hole trem.  Whatever the thickness of the trem cover is, that's what the recess is, and the springs make contact with the cover.  They would if it weren't recessed.  I much rather see the Strat jack plate and Tele and J-Bass control plates recessed than a trem cover I wouldn't use anyway.

I think we share the same problem, with pubes getting stuck in the springs... It hurts when you forget to divebomb before taking the guitar off.

I think it looks sloppy not to have the trem cover.
I think it looks classy!
And with a tremol-no, it's annoying to have to remove 6 screws to be able to adjust it.
After that last post... you're not allowed to talk about classy.

I have two Fender strats that have them on, and my two W's have them off.  I wish they weren't on the Fenders, but leaving holes in the wood looks even worse, so I leave them on.

I think they look better with them off.
