Hope all's well - long time!
After spending some time with 1-5/8" and 1-11/16" necks on my Strat, I decided what's most important to me: The ability to wrap my thumb over and have wider string spacing simultaneously.
I haven't been able to get that feel from any particular neck combo I've tried thus far. So, I took some 180 and began hand sanding the treble shoulder at about a 45* angle until the hump was reduced by about 40% and did the same to the bass side, reducing it by about 10%.
The result is a very comfy asymmetric shape that allowed my hand to cant just enough to comfortably wrap my thumb over the top. Very comfy. I'm curious to see how close this is to the SRV carve.
