(from the Fender custom shop twitter:) So, it's a dock over-looking a pond with Koi in it. Water is Quilted Maple, dock is Alder.

That's possibly the best finish work I've ever seen.
I bet it's extremely expensive though, Fender Custom Shop and all...

Damn them to the very pit of hell for routing a hardtail bridge on that body though!

Not my usual cup of tea, but a very cool concept nonetheless.  The way they stitched in the arm contour with the quilt maple is fairly brilliant.  And call me a dirty hippy, but I like the hardtail, just not the gold.

I don't think I'd want that finish on any of my guitars, but it's a superlative piece of work, nonetheless. From Fender, it probably cost 80 bajillion dollars, but I'm sure anyone would have to charge a lot for such a thing. It's beyond finishing; it's artwork. Had to have taken a long time and a lotta talent to do.

the thing that bothers me... I think the 4th and 5th are not the same guitar... or are my eyes playing tricks?

you're right, the rocks are in different places. so there are at least two of these out there somewhere

thats amazing! glad i opened this again after the pictures didn't work the first time... that is ridiculously cool

That's one of the best I've ever seen in concept and delivery. The neck looks amazing too. Also loving the way the planks wrap around the sides.

Don't think I would ever play it tho, there's no justification relicing this one. Has to be a collectors piece.

I'm on the fence about whether I'd rock one or not.
Normally I wouldn't want something like that on a guitar, but OTOH, it's just so incredibly well done, I actually really like it.

I did have a nice pond in my backyard 12 years ago, and another half-assed pond 5 years ago that I made from a plastic tub and waterfall kit that I just left above ground.
Something about waterfalls and colorful fish swimming around is so relaxing.

Holy Carp!    I love it, I'd like to know how to do stuff like that, the inlay I can at least comprehend, but painting things to look like the dock, or the rocks, I haven't a clue.

I have about every book published on Koi, I love em. And so do my local racoons

The guitar in the OP - amazing work, but I don't ever want to see it again.  :laughing7:

Wow, that's incredible.

It's a work of art. It may not be a painting everyone would want to hang on their wall, but you still have to appreciate the artistry.
