I just got this new a few days ago.  :hello2:

I'll be doing some heavy contouring & dying it black.

Wow that's gonna look great!  What pickups are you going to be using?

Not 100% sure yet, but I'm leaning towards a Dimarzio Air Norton in the bridge, Area 67 in the middle & an Injector in the neck & then wiring the single coils series/parallel for a thicker sound if needed with a push/push pot.

how are you contouring it?

I contour the heel for a neck-thru body feel like the Ibanez guitars & extend & contour the tummy contour area even further. I do that to all my Warmoths & they feel way sleeker & more comfortable to play.

whhooooo that's a relief. I was hoping you wouldn't ruin the top of the guitar by changing the forearm area! Sounds good. So your planning almost like an AANJ thing?

Yes, the heel is almost identical to an AANJ.

I just did this to my last build which was a tele.

EXACTLY how a soloist should be done.
Almost....For a true soloist look it should have the pointy headstock...But it is bad ass for sure....Awesome quilt... :headbang1:

True!!! A traditional soloist must have a pointy headstock. Unfortunately, I've grown to really dislike them. I don't know why, as I used to think they were ultra cool back in the 80s. But then again, I used to have a white strap with a red Japanese rising sun on it that I thought was the most bitchin' strap known to mankind. I use a plain black strap now a days.

I chose the Warhead headstock since it's a little more edgey than a strat but not pointy.

which is exactly what a soloist is . . . a bit more edgy than a strat but not pointy. perfect combo, IMO.  :occasion14:

Very nice indeed  :icon_thumright:

Is that a unique choice 'Quilt Maple' Top & matching Headstock ?

If it is, thats gunna be one sweet looking Soloist !!  If not will still look awesome.

Whats the big difference between a Strat body & a Soloist ?  Just curious  :icon_scratch:

You are either not old enough to remember the 80's, or you weren't born yet, because the Soloist is POINTY....

But it's Doughboy's ride, so he can have it a bit less pointy I guess.... :icon_biggrin:

THIS is pointy.

True, but nothing beats a Jackson for pure pointy-ness.

Add in a reverse headstock & your pants will begin to tighten, your hair will get permed & Aquanet will start mysteriously appearing in your bathroom...
