Quiet Please!

Get ahold of a 2.2K or 3.3K (or both in series if one or the other isn't enough) resistor and put it in series with the power LED. That'll teach it a lesson about acting like an aircraft landing light.

I put 32GB in the last two machines I built with the idea in mind that I'd run RAMDisks instead of hoping the SSD's wear-leveling routines were effective enough and to gain some performance. But, as it has worked out, I ended up using M.2 PCIe drives for the OS/apps instead of regular SSDs, so neither of those things are an issue and now I have more RAM than I can use.

I've not been able to get normal stress stuff to use more than about 8gb. But I have some large sample libraries, and am working on some memory intensive processing algorithms. Hoping to make good use of it. But I'll hold off until I run out of memory before doing anything.

I have 8GB in my laptop and regularly hit the end of it. Don't know why. I'm suspicious of Firefox's memory management - it seems to be the largest user by far. But, it's also running Windows 7, so I don't expect efficient operation out of it. Windows has never liked being left to run for weeks/months on end. Years ago, you were lucky to get days out of it. One of their efforts, I think it was the "Millenium Edition" gave you cause for celebration if you could get hours out of it. But, my Linux machines are packed away at the moment so I just do a deliberate reboot every couple days and I'm good to go.
