Question for UK Warmoth owners re Taxes/Customs

Hi - I've been looking at the customs website to try to work out how much tax/duty I would have to pay on getting Warmoth parts shipped to the UK.

I assume that first I would have to pay the expected VAT, currently at 15%, but set to go up to 17.5% in January, and maybe higher in the future.

But it appears there would also be "Customs Duty;" the percentage charged depends on what category the goods fall into, and there are over 14000 different categories!

So I'm just asking anyone who has bought Warmoth parts in the UK, how much tax and customs duty was actually charged?

My most recent Warmoth purchase worked out at $968.10 (note, USD)
I was charged a total of £121.14 for VAT and duty... (note, GBP)
VAT £91.27
Duty £18.87
Charges £11.00

They appear to use whatever exchange rate applies on the day...working back from VAT @15%, $968.10 = £608.46 (1.59 rate)
So the duty works out at about 3%.

I hope this helps.

Similar system in use in Australia re: imported goods & our GST calculation. The Aust. Customs use a daily exchange rate and that is posted on their website, on a week to week basis. Maybe UK Customs has a similar facility?

I suppose if you suddenly trip over a tax threshold due to the Govt's exchange rate being so low compared to what you got charged on your Credit Card, you could maybe argue for a review, but I wouldn't like your chances of a change.

ill be recieving my order within a couple of weeks, ill tell you what i have to pay to get my purple beast of a  five string into the country haha
