Putting a Strat heel into Tele neck pocket

I ordered a body with a Tele neck pocket and it's already been stained and finished by me. It wasn't until after finishing the body that I realized the Warmoth neck I wanted wouldn't be compatible with the pocket. It will fit but I'll have that little gap at the corners.

My only idea at this point is to sand both the heel and pocket a little so the gap is even around the heel, then fill it with something. Has anyone else had this problem and would the gap even be noticeable enough for me to worry about?

You don't need to fill the gap for the neck to be stable.  THe fretboard overhang should cover it, if you are using a Warmoth Pro or VM neck.  Sure it's nice when the neck heel makes snug contact all around the pocket, but it's the clamping action of the screws that holds it in place.  For extra certainty, try the threaded-insert approach.

I didn't even realize all the Warmoth necks had an overhang until I went back and looked at the specs. That solves my problem, as it was just a visual thing that I didn't want the gap. Thanks for the feedback.

On a related topic, does anyone know why Warmoth necks don't have a 21-fret option?

That'd be the Total Vintage neck.

Total Vintage, Modern Vintage, and Pro are all available with 21 frets.
The Conversion neck is locked in at 22.

Don't take anything off the neck or you'll be changing the neck to bridge distance and your intonation will suffer

Here is mine that I put a strat neck in a tele pocket.  It won one of them GOTM thingies, but I dunno where the image for that went.

The mounting holes would still be in the same place, so I don't think that would be a problem. The scale distance would remain the same. Back 100 years ago, they didn't drill the mounting holes, so you could mess it up, but that hasn't been true for a while now. Probably why they started pre-drilling the holes. Reduce returns. Carvin still doesn't drill holes. Scary pain in the ass. Nice necks, though, for the money, if you like something super-thin. They're like a Wizard profile.

As for heel fit, Strat heels will gazinta Tele pockets, but not vice-versa.
