Putting a Potentiometer in Toggle switch space

I was planning on replacing the Les Paul style toggle switch with a rotary pickup selecter instead, but I notice that the hole for the Toggle switch is slightly larger than a standard Pot hole.  Has anyone done this before and know of a way I can achieve this so the rotarty switch is firmly fixed?

Spackle.  Or larger washers on each side maybe?  A drop of glue to hold the washer in place if you want it really fixed, or maybe a rubber washer under the metal one?
