does anyone know how i would go by putting a B5 Bigsby on an SG? is it pretty straight forward? should i ask them when i get the body to not drill holes for the tailpiece? thanks
Remove stop bar, bolt on bigsby. use fishing line to make it straight
Personally, I'd do the B7 and shim it a bit - usa B7's will fit with perhaps only slight mod on the tail anchor/hinge.
Reason is - the back is hinged and you can shim up the front a bit, making the string angle better, with a less sharp break (less friction) over the saddles
Has anyone tried the Les Trem Stop-Tailpiece? It is offered in Stew Mac. The description say there is no drilling and that it mounts inside your existing tailpiece post bushings. It's supposed to be Bigsbyesque in feel. ?
I think the best reason to install a bigsby is for Looks, But I've never played one either, maybe they feel great too, I'd like a totally pimped out guitar with a bigsby someday, something like an ES33* whatever
Sure Bigsbyesque is a word. Micky Mouse can be used as a verb as well. Example- I was in need of a string tree but didn't have one handy. So, I Micky Moused the B and E strings behind the nut with a staple-gun.

Hehe! Yeah, that's true. Years ago I had a Bigsby on an old Epiphone ES335 copy, and I swore to all that was holy I'd never have one of those cursed things on another guitar again. In fact, it put me off vibrato bridges period for a long time. Then I got a G&L, and found out that wang bars weren't totally evil. They're just mean-spirited <grin>
There is something attractive about a Bigsby, though. I don't know if it's just some warped desire to have more machinery on the guitar or what, but I do like the looks of them.
