Which kind of finish will keep this wood from turning brown? I remember reading something about it on here a while back but searching didn't do me much good...
The problem is, though... Purpleheart is one of those nice exotics that doesn't need a finish, so it would be sad to put a finish on it.reinhold said:Nothing will stop it from turning brown eventually, but since it turns brown due to UV rays, you could put a UV retardant under the finish to help protect it as long as you can. I've never done this, but this is what I was told by a friend who has used it for furniture in his house.
I don't know how you managed it, but that guitar is soo ugly, but at the same time, looks soo damn hot it's not funny.DangerousR6 said:I used danish oil on Billy Bo, and it still has that nice purplish red hue to it....

I do believe I heard something about some sort of wax, or something (that kept the feeling of a raw wood), that kept the wood purple for a longer time.
Also, as long as you keep it away from direct sunlight as much as possible, there wouldn't be as much to worry about. :icon_jokercolor:

its being used for an amp so I wouldn't be wasting some exotic by finishing it, I think I might just take some sort of maple or something and just use some purple dye.

What about some wickedly quilted maple?((AAAAA) That would look killer.
It would look really classical... even though it ain't.
